My first digital steps were made on an Apple IIe, Commodore VC 20 and other "home computers" of the eighties. My first personal computer was a Schneider CPC 464, which I expanded with a soldering iron and craftsmanship. With that, I also learned programming.

After Basic with many "Peeks & Pokes" came my first high-level language: Turbo Pascal 3 under CP/M on my CPC 464. Initially, I had only 8 KB of RAM available – after many hours of tinkering, it later became 24 KB!

Since Apple Macintosh computers were way too expensive back then, there were two camps among the nerds:Commodore Amiga or Atari ST. I belonged to the Amiga camp and programmed with KickPascal and Modula 2.

The Path to Entrepreneurship

1988 I began programming my first database application under Superbase – a small business management system for the jewelry industry.

1993 after the end of Commodore, I switched to Windows 3.11 and ported my system to Borland Paradox.

1995 finally, with Delphi 1, a development system with object-oriented Pascal was available again. In the same year, I hung up my original profession in the jewelry and gemstone industry and founded the Equitania Programmierteam – today Equitania Software GmbH.

  • DevOps & Automation with Docker, Ansible, CI/CD

  • Artificial Intelligence – in intensive use for software development and business processes for over three years

Open Source

I consider it important to view Odoo from an open-source perspective. While we also support the Enterprise version in our projects, it is my heartfelt wish that the system remains fully usable even without a commercial license.
